My work explores imagined landscapes, subterranean spaces, and abstracted planes of existence. These are all spaces that we coexist in with other human beings and other creatures. I am interested in not only the familiarity of the landscape but also the naturally mysterious quality that is present. I have in turn created my own idea of a place of existence. Although the image has unclear qualities to it, there is an immediate connection that is taking place.
Currently, I have been exploring themes and methods of communication that relate not only with oneself but also with our relationships with others. In creating these imagined “landscapes” I use cryptic imagery and try to created an abstracted story. There are elements that make sense and can be understood where as other parts evoke confusion and mystery. I believe these imagined spaces have a psychological weight, emphasizing stream of conscious thinking.
